Paying homage to 1667 creation of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, “Une Exposition d’Arts Obsessionels de la Fibre” presents a small glimpse into the exciting world materials and techniques associated with studio fiber art. Often voiced as complex and obsessive, based in traditionally regional and often for utilitarian purposes or decorative woman’s parlor practice, the world of Studio Fiber and Textile Arts is becoming more recognized and appreciated in the Fine Art World. From the Venice Biennale to Art Basil, artists are turning the materials and techniques for a fresh means of expression.

The exhibition is mounted salon-style, dazzling the gallery walls with works done by embroidery, weaving, knotting, stacking, layering, painted, twining, knitting, crocheting, and collaging comprised with an endless number of materials – fine, found, recycled, natural, and synthetic.
