YVONNE P. BOBROWICZ
Acquired by the THE FULLER CRAFT MUSEUM
made possible by the generous donation of a GLG patron
Gravers Lane Gallery is pleased to announce the placement of a pivotal mid-career work from the “Opposites Attract” series by Yvonne Pacanovsky Bobrowicz (1928-2022) with the Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton MA. The acquisition was made possible by a generous donation to The Fuller Craft Museum by one of our supporting patrons. Bobrowicz recently (2018) exhibited in the "Masters of American Crafts” exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which currently holds important works by Bobrowicz in their permanent collection. The same year the Chicago Art Institute acquired a work by Bobrowicz, exhibited in their exhibition “Weaving beyond the Bauhaus” adding to their in depth historical collection of works dating from her time at Cranbrook Academy of Art in the late 1940's. Bobrowicz's work can also be found in many private and public collections across the globe. She was a Pew Fellowship in the Arts recipient and a Leeway Foundation winner. She worked with Louis Kahn who commissioned Bobrowicz for several public and private buildings he designed and recently at 90 years young, completed a monumental sculpture, commissioned by a renown Philadelphia architect, for the lobby of the Wanamaker Condominium building near Rittenhouse Square. We are honored to represent the work of Yvonne P. Bobrowicz and thank her husband Joseph and son Mark, our supporting patrons, and the acquisition board of the Fuller Craft Museum under the leadership of Beth McLaughlin, Chief Curator and Artistic Director.
